Hyland Highway Landfill Cell 3 and Leachate Pond 2

From February 2011 to November 2013

Hyland highway landfill is approximately 14 ha and is located north of Callingnee South Road, approximately 9 km south of Traralgon. The landfill is sited on Segment a ground water, hence the cell base liner has been designed to provide extra protection as required by waste management policy. Construction of Cell 3 was completed in two stages as cell 3A and cell 3B. Geocomposite liner in cel;l 3A was constructed and signed by EPA Victoria prior to construction of leachate pond 2 and cell 3B.

Latrobe City Council contracted Terra Firma Laboratories to perform GITA and construction quality assurance on geocomposite liner, cosisting

  • Sub grade preparation
  • Construction of 1m thick compacted Clay Liner
  • Geosynthetic Clay Liner (GCL)
  • 1.5mm thick HDPE Liner
  • Protection Cushion Geotextile Layer
  • Construction of Leachate Drainage Blanket
  • Filter Goetextile Installation.
