Trafalgar Landfill Rehabilitation

From July 2013 to December 2015.

Trfalgar Landfill Rehabilitation cap is a geocomposite cap with compacted clay liner, LLDPE geomembrane and geocomposite drainage net. The cap was cover to 44 ha landfill began in 1960’s at 200 Giles Road Trafalgar.

Terra Firma Laboratories was engaged by Baw Baw Shire Council  to act as Geotechnical  Inspection and Testing Authority (GITA) and perform Level One supervision and testing works for the earth works of landfill rehabilitation cap construction accordance with AS3798-2007 Guidelines for Earthworks for Commercial and Residential Development and the project technical specifications. As GITA, our scope was consisting five main components which require the level one supervision.

  • Waste Reprofilling
  • 300mm thick Temporary Cover
  • 600 mm thick Low Permeable Compacted  Clay Liner
  • 800 mm thick Soil Subbase Layer
  • 200 mm thick Top Soil Layer

At the project completion, a geotechnical inspection report was prepareed by Terra Firma Laboratories to submit the EPA appointed auditor.
